About Fresh Table

Fresh Table is an independent food reference site for home cooks who want tested recipes, evidence-based nutrition data, and practical kitchen guides. We are not affiliated with any food brand, government agency, or dietary supplement company. Every guide is kitchen-tested and fact-checked against USDA and FDA primary sources.

Who publishes Fresh Table?

Fresh Table is written and maintained by Caroline Reed, a food writer and home cook based in Austin, Texas. Caroline has spent over a decade testing recipes, studying nutrition science from USDA and university extension sources, and developing practical kitchen guides.

Before writing full-time, Caroline worked in restaurant kitchens and completed coursework in food science at the University of Texas. Her work focuses on budget-friendly meal prep, evidence-based nutrition, and the cooking techniques that matter most at home.

What does Fresh Table cover?

We publish guides across five areas: budget meals and meal prep, cooking techniques, nutrition and diet, quick recipes, and food storage and safety. Every article targets a specific question that home cooks actually search for.

How is this different from other food sites?

Most recipe blogs bury the recipe under 2,000 words of personal narrative. Most nutrition sites either oversimplify or read like medical journals. Fresh Table sits in the middle: practical, data-rich, and written for people who cook at home 3-5 times per week.

We include real nutrition data from USDA FoodData Central, price-per-serving breakdowns, and tested cook times. We do not estimate. We do not make health claims. We cite primary sources and tell you where we got each number.

Editorial independence

Fresh Table is fully independent. We do not accept payment for coverage. If we ever include affiliate links, they will be clearly disclosed on the page. Our editorial recommendations are never influenced by commercial relationships.
